We ask that you put the date you would most prefer to meet, so that we have a general idea of your urgency and availability in conjunction with our designers schedule. After submitting, our team will reach out to you directly within the next 48 hours, to help book your actual consultation date using the designers best availability. Frequently Asked Questions & Answers:

How Does Booking Work?

First things first, the consultation – whether online or in person your first one is always free.

You submit your form, we reply. It’s super simple! Our Designer will work with your schedule and help you develop your wants and needs. After that, it’s time to leave it to the professionals!

DH will leave your first fitting with your budget, sizes, and a pretty extensive idea of what you’re looking to get out of this process.

You will leave with your contract, an itemized budget breakdown (if you have had a clear idea delivered to us before your first in-person consultation) and confidence in becoming a DH client!

What Happens After I Have My Initial Consultation?

After you’ve had your first consultation, DH will work on up to 3 different design ideas based on your one-on-one conversation. These will be based on a few different things including:

  • Your Budget
  • Your Timeline
  • Your Wants and Needs List
  • Inspiration Photos you may have provided
  • Verbal Communications during the initial (web or in-person) Consultation

You can choose up to 1 design that you’d like to book fittings for at a time because each piece (unless otherwise stated during the consultation process) is considered a separate order. This helps us keep quality control high and really focus on the wants and needs of our clients.

I've Signed off on My Final Design, What's Next?

Once your design is finalized, sketched and budgeted out. DH will provide (in-person or via email based on your preferences) the following items to the client:

  • Digital Sketch/Mock-up of Design
  • Fabric Swatches for Color & Texture Reference
  • Final Itemized Budget Breakdown
  • Suggested Fittings & Fees Timeline

Before any production will begin on a piece, no matter your individual timeline, DH MUST have the following items:

  • Your Completed Contract
  • Signed Itemized Budget Breakdown
  • Confirmation of At least First Fitting & Final/Delivery Fitting Dates
  • Confirmation of Payment Plan
  • Completed Measurements Chart

How Do the Fittings Work?

DH fittings are meant to be fun, relaxed and all about getting your design just right – this means, it’s not always about who you brought with you today. We encourage our clients to come by themselves or bring someone who won’t mind waiting in the lounge. This process is 100% about you, so DH wants your opinion, always.

The First Fitting is generally comprised of going over fabric options, getting the rest of your measurements, settling your first payment and making sure the muslin version of your piece fits just right!

*First fittings vary based on the level of communication and availability of the client. If a client cannot meet as often this fitting can run much longer than the suggested hour.

The Second Fitting is when you start to see some progress. Not a lot, but this is when we see some smiles and sometimes some worried faces! Don’t fret DH Clients, this is just the beginning stages of the piece and before you leave you will be given the opportunity to speak your peace.

Designer Notes:

  • Never eat within an hour before fittings.
  • If you plan to lose weight or have any drastic bodily changes (that would affect your
measurements) please mention them before production begins.
  • Please do not bring large groups of people to each fitting. DH will host fittings in our private-atelier and would prefer fewer people. For final fittings/delivery, DH can schedule a meeting place (if needed) to host a larger group of people.
  • Please keep in mind that the Production Schedule is tentative and not a way of micromanaging the Designer. We ask that you email us at dfhdesigns@outlook.com with any questions or concerns you may have during the process and allow a 24 hour response time. In some cases, the Designer may provide you with her direct phone number, please text her for any changes in this instance so we always have things in writing for later.
  • All documents will be printed twice; once for the designer and once for the client.

What Happens If I Change My Mind About a Part of the Final Design?

From the moment your Production Start Date hits, DH is working on your piece, that means any and all major changes MUST be mentioned before fabrics are purchased, down payment made.

This doesn’t mean we don’t give you wiggle room though! We will always do our very best to accommodate your wants and needs, it’s just imperative, that each client knows there will be a fee (subject to be decided by DH) based on the level of change required. This fee will be due before you leave your next fitting, or added to your overall fee and divided equally among your already scheduled (left) payments.

Contract Explantation:

“After the garment order is placed and the Scheduled Fittings & Fees document is signed, all adjustments, addons, changes to overall design, will be considered “special requests” and the Designer reserves the right to charge the Client at his or her discretion for these changes.*

*These fees will be added to the FINAL PAYMENT of the garment/product purchased unless otherwise agreed to in writing. All fees of this kind will be noted and described on the FINAL INVOICE (which is given to the client during the FINAL FITTING) and DUE UPON THE DELIVERY OF PURCHASED ITEM.

Decisions made during the creation process will always reflect the agreed upon price and deadlines. Should the Designer need to make a price/time-based decision when Client is un-available/un-reachable, Designer reserves the right to make the Decision he or she thinks is best while still accomplishing the end goal.

During the creation process, the Designer may reach out to the Client to ask questions and opinions. These brief conversations do not count as Fittings/Consultations and the Client will not be charged for them. However,
should changes to the overall garment be requested during this conversation, Designer reserves the right to reflect such changes through fees.*

Throughout the creation process, some small changes may need to be made. Client and Designer will discuss such changes during the fittings. All changes that do not affect the overall construction of the garment or are not specifically noted below are considered under the initial contract price agreed during the First Consultation.”

Note: Construction, Fabrication, Hand stitching, Embroidery, Silk work, Beading and Lace work.

What Happens If I Decide to Cancel My Order?

So maybe you jumped the gun before you really looked around, or maybe you just financially can’t commit to the rest of the payments. Whatever your reason, DH will try to work with your situation as much as possible. At DH, we won’t hold you for any payments, unless you’ve already signed the contract.

Contract Explanation:

“In the event of cancellation of this assignment, ownership of the product/garment shall be retained by the Designer, and a cancellation fee for work completed, and expenses already incurred, shall be paid by the Client.
A 100% cancellation fee is due once the project has been finished, whether delivered to the client or not. The charge for 100% cancellation fee will be 50% total product cost (agreed Sum Total cost), or 50% of the remaining cost to complete the project, whichever is greater.”

What's the Average Cost of A Custom Gown?

The average cost of a piece by DH will vary heavily based on the materials, timeline, and budget of each client. When you have a bigger budget, you get better materials, so you pay a little more than someone with a smaller budget who we would use cheaper materials in combination with better materials, to achieve the overall look, without going deeper into your pockets.

Do You Offer Any Payment Plan Options?

At DH, we are known for our ability to help you achieve your dream of getting a product you love at the budget you feel most comfortable with. We’ll tell you up front if it possible and  how’s we’d tweak it to suit your financial situation. We also offer a few different payment plans for purchases over $500 and first time customers.

Contract Explanation:

“During the initial consultation, the design of the product/garment will be discussed, as will raw materials budget and time. Once the design is approved and signed for, Designer reserves the right to make decisions on the garments make/material as he or she sees fit, in order to accomplish the end goal under said restricted budget. Said decisions will always be discussed with Client and should Client disagree/prefer a more expensive option, the Client must assume that all additions, alterations, changes in content, layout or process changes requested by the customer, will alter the time and cost.*”

*These fees will be added to the FINAL PAYMENT of the garment/product purchased unless otherwise agreed to in writing. All fees of this kind will benoted and described on the FINAL INVOICE (which is given to the client during the FINAL FITTING) and DUE UPON THE DELIVERY OF PURCHASED ITEM.

How Many Fittings Should I Plan For?

Fittings are to be scheduled and agreed to by both parties (Designer & Client) during initial consultation. Then they will be outlined in the document called Scheduled Fittings & Fees which will be signed and agreed upon by both parties (Designer & Client) during the First Consultation.

Designer reserves the right to schedule fittings at his or her discretion. Client understands that Designer will schedule fittings to reflect the overall goal. Client understands the following material:

Total Project Cost Min. Number of Fittings*
$50-100 USD 1
$200-400 USD 2
$500-1,000 USD 3
$2,000-4,000 USD 4
$5,000-$10,000 5
*Numbers reflected on this chart do not include the original consultation.

Fittings will be held in a place that best suits the designer. Any Fitting held elsewhere will be considered a “special request” and the Designer reserves the right to charge the Client at his or her discretion.

Should the Client request a fitting or consultation meeting that was not originally agreed on within the initial Scheduled Fittings & Fees document, Designer reserves the right to charge the Client at his or her discretion.

Should the Client request an adjustment or change to the overall product/garment design, Designer reserves the right to adjust the Scheduled Fittings & Fees document to reflect these changes and to charge the Client at his or her discretion.

Should a fitting or consultation need to be rescheduled due to the Client missing the consultation/being unavailable, Designer reserves the right to charge the Client at his or her discretion.

Okay, How do the Payments work?

So you’ve finalized your design, settled your budget and fittings dates….What’s next?!

Breaking down your cost into more digestible chunk will be a breath of fresh air. We’ will provide you with a few payment plan options that will not include your Raw Materials/Expenses Fee which is the down payment you pay upon delivery of the signed contract to the designer.

Raw Materials/Expenses Fee According to Our Contract:

All purchases made for the product/garment will be considered Raw Material Needs. Raw Material Needs Cost/Fee is non-refundable and will be due within 1 week of the official Production Start Date which will be listed on the Scheduled Production Outline and signed by you with your DH Contract.

In most, but not all, cases Raw Material Cost is at least 50% of total cost. Not all raw materials will be used, Designer reserves the right to use purchased materials as he or she wishes in order to accomplish the agreed project by the deadlines and fees listed within the Scheduled Fittings & Fees document. Designer owns all materials purchased this way, whether or not they are used on the final product/design.

Should Client request the unused raw materials, Designer reserves the right to refuse or charge client as a separate transaction from the original purchase at his or her discretion.

Client understands that upon original purchase of raw materials, Designer has the best intentions to use said materials on the purchased product/garment.

Client understands that during the production process outlines in the Scheduled Production Outline the Designer may edit or discard raw materials for the best overall outcome of the product/design.
